I received three posts this morning--2 about hamas and one about a holocaust rememberance to counter denialism. So i am thinking a bit out of the box today. I run this by you because you have some really good insights although we disagree on much.
Heres the thought. Israel should reach out to hamas offering any help to get the territories managed properly. Israel could also swallow hard and say all past acts will be put aside and if hamas wants we will view this as a new beginning.
Now of course Hamas is likely to reject all this. Some may say this would appear as a sign of weakness on israels side. But i think this israelis initiatve would play well around the world, particularly in europe, with folks who take the denialists and the minimialists and the anti-zionists more seriously than they should. And then again there is always the possiblity that hamas will accept in some fashion if only for the cynical reason of trying to make sure the moneys continue to flow. This is just a thought on my part not a position. Personally it is very hard for me to ever deal with a terrorist but maybe we have a chance to separate pal terror from the wahabi and iranian versions.
