But this is not sloppy reporting on Bill O'Reilly's part.

Yes it is. You might want to argue that it is more than that but it definitely fits the definition of sloppy reporting even if it is something else in addition.

He is enriching himself by spreading his agenda filled with hatred.

Even if he is, that doesn't make it a crime in the legal sense, or as bad as either molesting a child or making a false accusation of molestation.

What he was doing was expressing outrage at the situation. I think he probably actually felt outrage but even if it was just a cynical manipulation it doesn't approach the actions mentioned above. I doubt very much that his motive in this case was to spread a general hatred. It was to express that he thought the father has acted properly in assaulting the person he thought had molested his daughter, or to maintain/expand his audience so he could make money, or IMO both.

There may not be any current laws that O'Reilly has violated, but that is only because our criminal justice system is still a work in progress.

If our criminal justice system ever "progresses" to the point where what O'Reilly did results in criminal punishment it will be a sad day. We will have taken a step towards totalitarianism.
