Company Launches K-9 Fat Free Dog Treats(TM) Nationally to Specialty Retailers and Distributors
DALLAS, TX--(MARKET WIRE)--Feb 1, 2006 -- Pet Ecology Brands Inc. (Other OTC:PECB.PK - News), www.petecology.com, announced today the launch of its K-9 Fat Free Dog Treats(TM) in the Untied States and Canada . The Company reported that production is complete and fulfillment is underway, with its first orders being shipped today. ADVERTISEMENT The pre-launch offering was officially launched last week with a direct mail campaign which started with a postcard mailer introducing K-9 Fat Free Dog Treats(TM) to the market and announcing a limited-time introductory discount offer. The postcard was first mailed to the Company's existing customers, and a separate mailing is planned to follow next week to specialty pet retailers across the U.S. and Canada. The Company reported substantial preorders generated by this mailing as well as from existing retailers and distributors who have previewed the product.
Deborah Wadsworth-Evans, Director of Marketing for Pet Ecology, stated, "Our direct mail program is designed to demonstrate Pet Ecology's commitment to our customers and the specialty pet industry. As with the launch of our initial product, Scientific Professional Cat Litter, with FLUTD early warning system, and now our new K-9 Fat Free Dog Treats, new products include a limited-time introductory discount offer, initiated by a direct mail announcement first to our existing customers and contacts, with a separate mass mailing to all specialty retailers and distributors to follow later. Although we are targeting the entire specialty pet market, a focused effort will be taken to ensure that our existing customers are specifically notified and provided the opportunity to be among the first to offer our unique products to their customers. In addition, we provide valuable marketing and sales support, such as in-store product demonstrations, merchandising materials and store displays, consumer advertising via print media, Internet, trade shows, television and radio. Such media and marketing support is part of our overall media budget of $3 million dollars for product and retailer support that we have planned for this year. We are committed to providing this distribution channel with, not only unique and innovative products, but with unique and innovative service, as well."
According to Pet Ecology's Director of National Sales, Pam Basinger, "The initial feedback we have received from virtually all of the retailers & distributors we have spoken to about this product, has been very positive. Our K-9 Fat Free Dog Treats(TM) are the first and only fat free dog treat on the market. Unique and healthy products are exactly what the market demands, as obesity in pets, as in humans, is a central health and quality of life issue. The response is ever more powerful, once they have brought our treats home to their own dogs, or those of family and/or friends. The dogs absolutely love them! We are very excited about this product and expect to receive orders from the vast majority of our existing customer base, as well as a significant number of new orders, over the next 60 days. Early response indicates that our initial run of 300,000 bags will be sold very quickly to our existing base, and we contemplate an immediate restocking to supply the projected demand."

About Pet Ecology Brands, Inc.
Pet Ecology Brands, Inc. has developed a revolutionary patented cat litter that destroys urine odor, clumps, and is earth-friendly. The litter is ultra-lightweight and convenient to use (3lbs works like 21lbs of clay/sand based products); it is 100% flushable and safe for sewer and septic tank systems. It is completely safe for cats and our environment, and does not contain any sodium bentonite, as used in competing brands. The design helps to protect the landfills, and yet does everything that clay litters do... and more. It has the ability to help indicate certain diseases commonly occurring in cats. The technique used is similar to that found in Merck's Veterinarian Manual. However, this litter not only warns of possible illness, but may also help indicate how far along the illness may be by the color the litter changes to, thereby providing the pet owner significant additional benefits and an early warning system concerning the cat's health.
A 20lb package configuration, which was released to the market during the week of January 9, 2006, and is designed specifically for professional breeders & kennels, will also be available for consumers in early Spring 2006.
Pet Ecology's K-9 Fat Free Dog Treats(TM) are the first fat free treats on the market that meet the standards of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and offer dog owners an effective means to provide their pets with a non-fat tasty treat. They are also cholesterol free and sodium free. According to U.S. News & World Report, "the number one health problem for dogs is obesity." Today, dogs are fed fat rich food and treats, and often get significantly less exercise than required to maintain an ideal weight and healthy condition. Overweight dogs are more prone to serious injury, skeletal stress, and the same complications that people experience with significant weight gain via fat rich diets, ranging from heart and lung problems, to skin and kidney diseases, to circulatory and immune system issues.
Other products anticipated being launched by Pet Ecology Brands in 2006 include the first fat free cat treat, a vitamin enhanced dog treat, a low sodium and low fat microwavable gourmet cat dinner; and two product line extensions for the Scientific Professional cat litter line to help indicate feline pregnancy and diabetes.
