The risk of the return on the labor is very low

On the contrary it is very high.
The worker adapts their entire skillset to the needs of the employer and that tends to 'typecast' them. It's easy to become expert in proprietary process which has little real value to another employer. That is a much more pervasive risk than just funds. They aren't just risking their next paycheck, they are risking their future. The opportunity to be laid off is also much higher than the total bankrupcy which ends an investment stream.
