Obvious answer to both of your questions, because we have some extremist Christians in America. However, having many friends in Hollywood and in the TV biz, I can tell you there is only one thing that drives the success of a TV series and that's ratings. The Book of Daniel just didn't get eyeballs and if a TV series doesn't do well fast, the networks yank it. End of story.

As far as Comedy Central, I think I've seen the Jesus episode of Southpark several times on that channel. They make fun of pretty much everything, including Catholics and Christianity and they haven't yanked Southpark yet. So try again.

At the end of the day, you are ignoring some serious differences. Those Christians may have protested material they thought was offensive, through boycotts and petitions. That is civilized behavior, although most of us would have told them to chill.

Muslims on the other hand take to the streets with their AK-47's and chant "Death to the Danes, Death to America, Death to Israel" whenever anything happens they don't like. In addition, they kidnapped a Dane and threatened to kill him. They also threatened to bomb the EU mission. That is NOT civilized behavior.

So your comparisons fall a little flat, zof. What I have learned about Muslim behavior, especially in the Middle East, over the last 5 years has convinced me that they are savages with little in common with the civilized countries of this age. They have a lot of growing up to do.

So yes, I love this country and I reserve the right to make fun of every damn race, creed, religion, or sexual proclivity, all to my heart's content. Why? Because I'm American, and that's what we do. We make fun of things and we laugh when the going gets tough. To hell with Muslims if they don't know how to laugh at others or at themselves.

How many Christian groups screamed bloody murder about the short-lived NBC series, The Book of Daniel?

Why didn't Comedy Central re-run the most recent episode of South Park lampooning the Catholic Church?

Good points. Its one thing in this country to be critical of ethnicities and religions in general; its quite another to be critical of Christians.
