People in general are hard working. It's when you start giving them welfare and other frees that they get hooked on that drug.

I think its more complicated than that. Most people I have met are willing to work. However, some people don't see that work getting them where they want so they begin to take shortcuts [which gets them into crime], or they give up [they become dependent on society].

Its a common myth among whites that if you work hard, you will become rich. However, study after study has disproved that myth. Sure there are the Oprah Winfreys but they are much more rare than Americans realize.

If you are born poor and black in this country, your odds of making it are much less than if you are born poor and white. Neither have a very good shot at becoming rich. For some, that's very hard to accept.
