One would have thought that the outrage, and following deaths that occured, last year over the alledged "abuse" of the Koran at Gitmo would have been sufficient to alert editors that certain forms of satirical representations of objects and persons considered holy by Muslims would ellicit a potentially violent response.
Hell, Hawk, why don't we have all Western democracies pass a law that the editors of all newspapers must be Muslim and be done with it since they apparently have the right (according to you) to dictate the content of those papers?

>If anything, it would provide Islamo-Fascist militants the excuse to conduct violent demonstrations aimed at further distancing moderate muslims from the secular west.
WHAT moderate Muslims? I'm beginning to believe they're a mythical beast. Were those those moderate Muslims cheering at the destruction of the WTC towers? Let me tell you, I found THAT quite offensive. More people died then than were killed at Pearl Harbor. Does our offense count for nothing? It isn't like they are pure as the driven snow.

When did they acquire the right to dictate attitudes and beliefs to me or any other non-Muslim? If they think they have that right, then it's time for us and our allies to convince them otherwise. Those cartoons were originally published in the WEST, not in Syria. They have no right to tell Danish papers what they can and cannot print.

Either the editor of those newspapers is incredibly incompetent (and/or arrogant),
Incompetence and/or arrogance are not crimes (at least not here) and do not justify rioting, murder, and arson. Are you actually willing to defend people who believe it does?

For even if moderate Muslims might be outraged at the violence by the I-F militants, they certainly feel considerable resentment against the Danes and Norwegians, as well as any other country that posted those cartoons.
"Those cartoons" are posted on the web. Worldwide. If they wish to take on the rest of the planet, I say "Let them come!"

I notice I (and jlallen) and eleutheria (sp?) are on the same side on this question. This may be a first in the history of this site.
