GWB's failure to do so raises additional questions as to his motivations for the FISA end-run. One of the several interesting things Feinstein said in her questioning Gonzales on Monday was that she suspected the reason was that a lot more was going on here than what had become public. Gonzales did not deny that. In fact as each senator asked questions about the scope of the endeavor, Gonzales either said the program under discussion before the senate committee was not that, that he could not talk about the operations of these programs only the legal justifications, and/or avoided the question altogether. Sounds like Feinstein is right.
