He also studiously avoided all questions as to the FISA end-run start date. The pointed way in which these questions were asked leads me to believe that the questioners have evidence as to exactly this. Leahy kept up this drumbeat of "when did the program start." So I agree, the senators know more than they feel comfortable sharing publicly. I think there is little doubt that, beneath this, is something much more alarming than we've seen to date. That's the only thing that fits with the kind of response the Bush administration has been giving.
