It's called stereotyping when done about ethnic groups. You seem to have missed the distinction between generalizing and stereotyping. Intelligent discussion about schools of thought and behavior is not possible without generalizing. There is nothing evil about it. No, as you will see in a subsequent post to e, I deeply dislike this kind of thinking I understand the sensitivity. I didn't see either of those pieces as bashing but rather explanatory. The premises can be challenged but dismissing them as bashing is ducking the questions, IMO.
