All the developed countries have adopted some collectivist/socialist aspects even where the dominant economic system is capitalist.

Socialism erodes property rights and individual rights. The rights of individuals are slowly taken away for the "public good". Laws are passed that limit property rights and individual freedoms with the "common good" as an objective. It starts out benignly enough, the government needs to take your property for a highway or a school or some other community need. Where it ends up is that they take your house to put up a shopping mall because that will increase the tax base.
