I don't need to look far to see that "the worst get to the top" -- I see it every time the White House is featured on my tv. But I stand firm: No society on this planet can do without good government. Civil service is indeed noble. To serve in the military in defense of ones country is noble. To serve in other capacities is also noble. And the services of government form the essential underpinning of a free society -- the rule of law being chief among them. Do I like lawyers? Hell no. But without the rule of law we would live under conditions so intolerable that neither you nor I would choose that state of affairs as a preference. Take the ideological mumbo jumbo and put it back in your book and on your shelf. We need good government. But we don't have good government.
