That would be fine, error is error, nothing to be done about it except to change and reconsider

The old saying, "Nothing fails like success" comes to mind.

One of the chronic failings of partisanship on both sides is clinging to ideas and "remedies" long after they have been proven unsuccessful, based on fallacy, outdated or just irrelevant. Partisans invest so much emotion in promoting their cause that admitting fault later is just about impossible.

A secondary failing is that partisans see the stubborn refusal of their opponents to recognize clear faults, but rarely if ever believe they have any of their own.

I would note that the 1968 item cherrypicked a few ideas that turned out to be wrong without reviewing a more comprehensive list of partisan ideas on the left and the right that turned out to be right, and are now accepted practices and laws in our society today.

C2, one of the finer things about this thread is a relatively consistent commitment to post civility. Dale has done a superb job of trying to keep that going.

We all try. How about helping out.
