We still produce a lot of manufactured goods. The value of goods manufactured in the US continues to increase, we get dips every time there is a recession but the long term trend continues up. And those IP and investment businesses need people which need to be transported, and sometimes use a lot of energy for other purposes. Also I'm not just talking about our ability to create wealth based on natural resources, but the fact that we have wealth means we can better afford those resources. Just as wealthy people tend to use more resources, wealthy countries tend to use more resources. Tim
