It seems that Israel is increasingly backed into a corner by all the goings on and recognition of Hamas by various countries.

However, since Hama's avowed aim is the elimination of Israel, Israel has practically no choice but to go all out on a blitz-krieg type of war against Hamas, with or without the US. Of course, this is easier said than done. Casualties and damage and fallout will be inevitable. Ah, but then that is the reality of war and survival.

To be sure, Hamas is taking advantage of the fact that Iran poses a great threat to Israel at this time and also the fact that Sharon is asleep, and that the wily ex-KGB Putin is salivating over then opportunity to resurrect Russian influence in the region and the US has her two hands full.

I learned along time that debka is often wrong. Whether rightly or wrongly the russians, french and others believe that israel/pal peace is a prereq for the weakening of the world wide terror movement. So they will talk to Hamas and urge Hamas to recognize israel and renounce terror. If you are right and you probably are and hamas doesnt do that, the pals will end up like iran as a pariah state. What that will mean is unclear because fellow arabs will finance them if the west doesnt. IF you are right about hamas intransigence, Israel should be preparing for a two front war against both hamas and hizbollah.
How do you envision such a war being fought? Hizbollah would be a formidable force I imagine. They had all those years to train an army. What about equipment? How much damage could they do within israel if any? How important a role would air power play? Prove to us how smart you are Steve with some answers for a change without the sloganeering.
