Then what after that. 20 hours after the incident and no communication from him to the police? You mean he had no time to call the police and instead had the ranch owner call the local paper instead and that too on her insistence.

I have known of people not contacting the police out of fear and that is why some flee the site. BUt heavens, this is the VP of the country. What is he afraid of. And you expect this guy to take on Osama?

The ambulance did not require Cheney to be in it- since Cheney was not injured. In auto accidents you are legally required to remain at the scene, unless your injuries require you to evacuate for medical attention- and Cheney did not require medical attention. I would imagine this type of accident is very much the same. I believe it is actually a crime to leave the scene (as well as a tort). But I didn't look that up- and I could be wrong. It's all about preserving evidence, of course- and in this case, they certainly didn't preserve it, did they?
