Much as I loathe Cheney he got one thing right. A few years ago he was quoted as saying "deficits don't matter". That has certainly been the case the last few years because the rest of the world -- mainly Japan and China -- has in effect financed the Iraq war, the housing bubble, and much else on the cheap. At some point deficits will matter again. But until then the Bushies will enjoy powerful tailwinds from an artificially propped up economy and asset markets.
