Do you have a link? I googled him and found some articles on "The Nation's" site addressing the issue, that were not very convincing.

ALso, one characteristic of liberal thought is that is is ready - maybe, too ready - to listen to and attempt to understand/accept hostile thinking. So its message is weakened and it does not present a united 'liberal' front, and to the uninformed it appears weak.

Whereas the right-biassed media, buttressed as they believe they are by a direct line to/from God, know no hesitation or deviation, and uniformly attack any liberal POV without attempting or wishing to understand it or accept that it might have truths or strengths they lack.
Which of courses makes it seem stronger and more confident, even while the base of rational understanding and logical underpinning may be weak to the point of non-existence, because no one examines this.

Just my POV, of course. But when was the last time anyone noticed any RW mouthpiece even considering [still less accepting] any alternative stance, as against the frequent editorials and considering and balance from (e.g) the NYT?
