If the economy was really booming, we would not be discussing people's needs to borrow money against their homes.

You guys are the ones that think that people need to borrow against their homes to spend. I've been arguing for a few years now that whatever money that is being borrowed against people's homes is being put right back into their homes either in upgrades or updates.
