Peter: I don't see the port issue as a liberal or conservative issue. I think it is a common sense issue. There is no doubt WMDs exist outside our borders. The ports remain the most likely means of entry for any such threat, although there are surely others.

The Company in question is state owned. We have had less than complete success with the UAE in chasing down banking trails for Bin Laden, and we have seen their willingness to use their own ports for dubious purposes. We don't know what, when or how management of these ports could put us at risk, but it is not difficult to envision a sceanario.

Why take the chance? If this deal increases our risk by 1%, it should be disallowed.

So you figure it's better to have US liberals who don't believe WMD exist running the ports as opposed to folks with a profit motive and engineering skills and imagination to create a project like the Palm Islands running the ports. I hear Mayor Nagin is available or maybe teddy kennedy....

What amazing stupidity!
