"I needs some help......one of my files has been infected by the Downloader-XC trojan. I have identified the file.......its I386\system32\mssearchnet.exe."

mssearchnet - mssearchnet.exe - Process Information

Process File: mssearchnet or mssearchnet.exe
Process Name: Trojan.Zlob.D Trojan

Description:
mssearchnet.exe is registered as the Generic Downloader.aa and Trojan.Zlob.D Trojans. This process usually comes bundled with a virus and it’s main role is to do nothing other than download other viruses to your computer. It is a registered security risk and should be removed immediately.

Find the file, via a search or clicking through to its location. Right click on it an go to properties. Look at the attributes. If the one marked 'read only' is checked, uncheck it. That should remove write protection.
