They have the courts. Remember the big fire at Yellowstone? Millions of board feet of good lumber was left to rot because the damn fools sued and won to stop hauling away the dead and partially burnt trees. As long as the courts let them do that our public forests are doomed IMO.

I'm sure Many Moose could add greatly to this conversation.

The anti-logging environmental groups are very much like today's Democratic party. Lots of objections, but they dont' have a plan of their own that they promote. They are obstructionists without any constructive alternate solutions (other than, leave the land as it existed before man arrived).

An excellent book that addresses this issue is Alston Chase's "Playing God in Yellowstone."
