Interesting take on the situation. How would you characterize the conservatives that object to the proposition?

Libs are almost unanimous in their adamant opposition to anything remotely approaching profiling.

So how do they not see their hypocrisy with their knee-jerk opposition to an Arab country winning the port management contracts?

The funny thing is that I've not really taken a
position on this controversy, but would prefer to
have more data.

I've also been critical of the administration's
inability to get out in front of issues---not just
this one.

My primary comments have been to note the
inconsistencies of positions taken by those
of the knee-jerk liberal bent.

I also glean that there are some Republican
politicians who are raising questions most
vociferously as a means to distance themselves
from Bush, in light of his low poll numbers.

All that being said, I think that people who
express legitimate concerns over the proposal
are entitled to voice them. I would, however,
like concrete reasons as opposed to purely
parochial or stereotypical analyses.

I may even be inclined to agree that
this was a bad idea....if I had more facts
and time to find them..........or if the
administration fails to make a more
convincing case.
