I thought Vista and Fallbrook were really nice. Also Valley Center. Nearly bought a house there in 1989 on 15 acres of plum and apricot trees and still regret that I didnT.

My favorite town was Encinitas, but it's more an artsy, hip town than a family place - a great place for single people, lots of nightlife and things to do.

These "cheap but hip" places are the spots that make the best investments for RE.
