Secretary Snow, the guy who chaired the secret panel that approved the deal.

And just how does Secretary Snow personally benefit from this?

I truly am interested to know if there is support for your statement.

I'm not happy about the British running our ports either.

Nor am I, however, it appears that there are no American port management companies with the ability or interest in making the upgrades required by Homeland Security.

Wonder why that is?

I've heard speculation that it's because of the heavy union presence on the waterfront, but I've seen no actual proof of that.

Look, I'm typically not a knee-jerk person, and am generally considered liberal on most issues, but this is a no-brainer, if we are serious about security we take matters into our own hands.

In the absence of an American company stepping to the plate, its either a foreign owned company or the government. I think we don't want to see a Port Management Service ("PMS") as a component of the Transportation Department.

"the coward and the voluptuary".

"Peace is generally good in itself, but it is never the highest good unless it comes as the handmaid of righteousness; and it becomes a very evil thing if it serves merely as a mask for cowardice and sloth, or as an instrument to further the ends of despotism or anarchy. We despise and abhor the bully, the brawler, the oppressor, whether in private or public life, but we despise no less the coward and the voluptuary. No man is worth calling a man who will not fight rather than submit to infamy or see those that are dear to him suffer wrong. No nation deserves to exist if it permits itself to lose the stern and virile virtues; and this without regard to whether the loss is due to the growth of a heartless and all-absorbing commercialism, to prolonged indulgence in luxury and soft, effortless ease, or to the deification of a warped and twisted sentimentality."

- President Theodore Roosevelt, 1906 (excerpt from his acceptance speech, upon receiving the Nobel Peace Prize).

The sharp contrast between President Theodore Roosevelt's philosophy, and that of Democratic Presidents Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton - as well as the other apologists for terror on the left - is striking.
T. Roosevelt's "coward and . . . voluptuary" foreshadow Carter, Clinton, and the whole new millennium Democratic Party.

Why should we let others be responsible for our security at our ports, even friendly countries like Britain

I see we are repeating the DNC talking point that has been proven to be bullshit repeatedly. Once again, THE PORT OPERATOR IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR PORT SECURITY. Never has been, never will be.
