When China and India have worked their way out of religious fundamentalism the next great technology strides will come from there. Statistically, there will be more scientists and engineers in those two countries than in the rest of the world.
(For religious fundamentalism in China, just pick up the People's Daily or listen to Yiwu, or any other source that talks about the allwise, allknowing, never erring holy Party.)
