Geode, I agree I'm worth only a fraction of $ill Gates [even without his financial assets, house and property other than himself]. He is capable of great things, even if he started again right now, with all his vast experience.

I don't know about the Enron guys, whether they still have any money or not.

That's not a sad way to think, it's a realistic way. Which isn't to say I don't have value. It's just so small that the most valuable thing I can right now is write this.... hang on...hmmm. Maybe I need to review what I'm doing. Arguing with the wheels on a car is ridiculous and I'm not far up Maslow's hierarchy of value doing what I'm doing now [sorry if that's being rude and I know Maslow didn't actually have an hierarchy of value].

<the government does Social Security quite well >

What? Are you nuts? You obviously haven't seen the social carnage that has resulted since social welfare was brought in. In NZ, little children are frequently tortured and killed by welfarists and swarms get away with their lives, but that's small consolation. We should not be surprised when they grow up and take revenge on society for financing their suffering, [not that they think of it like that].

I now consider it unethical to pay taxes because so much of it goes to paying people to create suffering. It's like paying taxes to fund concentration camps. The fact that it's a legal requirement doesn't make it ethical. I'm a wimp though, so I continue to pay taxes and the human sacrifice continues.

Once upon a time, decades ago, I thought it was an excellent thing to have state-run charity so people wouldn't fall through the cracks if they are not good at begging, don't have family, savings, ability to work etc. Now I realize my youthful ignorance led to hell for people who ended up in welfarism. I feel guilty. Unfortunately, most people still vote for welfarism and suffering, though they don't realize that's what they are doing.

Sure, it sounds great to lift seniors out of poverty. It would be better if they owned tradable citizenships with which to fund their old age needs if they don't own other property. Of course, governments don't want that. They prefer to be the boss and control everything.
