I would argue that the available evidence seems to show that power corrupts --- and balance of powers (the design settled upon by our founders to try to prevent one branch of government from dominating the others, and society as a whole) is the best, most CONSISTENT bet for reducing such ill effects.

Extended to the realm of practical politics, and considering the real world effects of our two dominant Parties, I believe that the evidence argues that BALANCING one off against the other (even to the extent of 'gridlock') produces MUCH BETTER results for the public... better governance, lower spending, slower growth of the government sector, etc.

The true opposite of what you suggest (putting Republicans in charge of every lever of power in sight) is NOT to throw the Republicans out and put Democrats in charge of the same things... it's to let NEITHER of this bunch of Bozos EVER have total control, or anything approaching it, again.

It's a Republican Court. Only 2 of the 9 Justices were appointed by a Democratic President.
