That's exactly what I think will happen. Roberts will declare his independence from the Republican religious right straight away by not even hearing the case. He's a conservative, but a REAL jurist, not an idealogue. Which is exactly what he told us in his confirmation hearings. He's already said he thinks Roe is settled law. It will inflame the religious conservatives and "pro life" crowd, who will denounce him. He's in for life, so what does he care? Bush will be blamed, and it'll be great!

I see Roberts diminishing Roe a piece at a time, starting with partial birth abortion, the abolition of which has wide public support.
