"I know that Jesus would turn the other cheek...I'm working on that one."

It is a subtle distinction but an important one. Jesus said,"offer the other cheek also." The difference is that 'turning a cheek' implies walking away when someone has caused you harm; whereas, 'offer the other cheek also' suggests that if someone is offended by you, you should allow them the full expression of their discontent. I agree. Once the person has had their full say, you might have some ability to clear the air with them and set things right.

Neither of these apply to your willingness (or not) to take a stand against social injustice ... well maybe the walking away part does a little. Maybe you could show me a quote of Jesus's expressing his support of Ceasar's authority to abuse whom ever he pleased. Are you suggesting that Jesus didn't what to do unto Ceasar, The Scribes, and the Pharasies anything that would cause them discomfort? Seems to me Jesus took a stand against oppressive authority of the day. In fact, that seems to me to be at the crux of his whole mission. Seems like he made their lives miserable and intended to do so. You may recall, they had him strung up on a cross over it.
