"Ask any decent Hindu person if he/she respects Gandhi and why." Oh, but I have. Practicing Hindus resent the partitioning of India, resulting in the creation of Pakistan, etc. This is something that has turned out to be a huge threat to the peaceful coexistence of the people in that region and was a direct product of Gandhi's work. They admire him for helping to awaken Indians of all faiths to the oppressive conditions imposed upon them by the British but many practicing Hindus feel his drive for secularism was corrupt.
