Of course it has Maurice. What fictional past world are you dreaming of? It never existed.

I always thinks people's concept of the past is based in the Fictitious Fifties. Exactly who was happy then? Remember 'mom's little helper' aka valium for the extraordinarily unhappy leave it to Beaver family?

For whom was it this ideal, happy place?

There have always been murders and burglaries and the such. The world used to be a much more dangerous place. Remember Al Capone ? Remember highway robberies? Remember In Cold Blood?

The faces change but the activities remain much the same.

The fact is that 99.9999999% of people do not murder their children whether they are on welfare or not. You're taking a few incidents and blowing them way out of proportion.

Just the facts ma'am.

My gosh, Maurice, I always thought New Zealand was a nice place; a place I would like to visit, but your description of your world has convinced me to go visit a sunny, happy place such as Dafur.

Spend more time with the coffee and the grandchildren.
