There is growing evidence that things in Afghanistan are worsening, not getting better. Just this past week there were a couple of bombings and a prison riot where some Taliban escaped.

Just today Negroponte confirmed this, and told the senate that things are in deed degrading in afghanistan. Why not? we are busy f--king up another country in that region....no time or resources for obl and afghanistan.

My argument about Iraq was that we took steps forward and back, but that there was a very weak overall positive trend. The current round of violence could be one of the bigger steps back, its not quite "we all know now that you (me) were wrong".

Afghanistan has generally been more positive than Iraq.
