I'm not that crazy about their coffee but I love the little doughnut holes. Addictive little buggers. Can't cross to Boblo Island without them (an island in the middle of the Detroit River, only accessible by ferry from Amherstburg, ON). TH's is The Spot in this charming town and people eat breakfast, lunch and maybe dinner there. I'd bite on the IPO if I were Canadian. MP

Yes, besides being a great defenceman Tim Horton was a clever entrepreneur. Unfortunately he died driving his sports car too fast before the chain really took off.

How many of their customers know this Canadian "institution" is owned by the American company that also owns Wendy's?

I am one of the few Canadians who has never been in a im Horton's (or a Wendy's for that matter). I don't drink coffee in spite of too many years of grad school, and growing up on the West Coast I missed the doughnut madness that infects the rest of Canada.

Eat a piece of oversweetened oversalted dough fried in rancid fat, when I can instead have a pastry that actually tastes good? No thanks! Of course, I generally live in urban areas where I have choices.

When I loved in Canada, the coffee there was barely good enough to take a bath in

..er, was that motel coffee you were drinking? ; ) ...and yes Tim Horton was a stalwart on the Leafs blueline in the 50's and 60's
