Kerry did the right thing. His only other choice was to hold a press conference, stop all talk of jobs, health care and other crucial issues, and concentrate on having a mock kangaroo trial of himself where he pleads innocent to all the phony smearvet charges.

Instead, he asssigned his boatmates under Max Cleland to go and fight the Bushie dirty tricksters. Also, John McCain spoke out against the smearvets, but that didn't sem to have much effect. They were half successful, but the other half did cost Kerry enough votes not to win. Although, so did Bush's phony terrorist alerts and suspicious Osama tape. So did the Florida hurricane and Bush's wonderful FEMA response for swing-voter neighborhoods. Do did the cheating in Ohio. They all cost Kerry the election.

In retrospect, it was not so much Kerry as the gullible press which was to blame for amplifying the smearvets. They never should have been given air time on serious TV shows. But you know many of those shows are controlled by the rightwing, so the lies got out.

Remember this in the future, because when they use ther smears it means they have no real issues to run on. No plans, no answers, no accomplishments, nothing positive to brag about.

The other day, the noted author Norman Mailer made an appearance on FOX’s Hannity & Colmes. Right off the bat, he declared George W. Bush his ‘spiritual enemy’ and gave a curious reason as to why: ‘He wrecks the American language.’

So in addition to taking us to the wrong war, contributing to global warming, torturing people, causing the Katrina disaster, and spying on his fellow citizens, George Bush now also stands accused of wrecking the American language.

Isn’t it just astonishing what liberals can come up with as they try to rationalize their hatred of this president? It was the same with Ronald Reagan who was also blamed for everything from homelessness to AIDS. Why is it that liberals always hate good men? But give them a serial murderer and they can’t find fault with him. Instead, they will turn him into a celebrity telling everyone just what a great person he is.

No one could be a better example of this than Mailer himself. In 1980 he helped Jack Abbot, a convicted killer, to be released on parole. Mailer even arranged for him to publish a book. Not long after his release, Abbott committed another murder.
