My own experiences are similar. I've been doing business at the Bank of Hawaii for about 30 years. Recently whenever I've gone in to deposit a commission check I needed to get supervisory approval just to make a deposit(they have have "new regulations" about checks that are larger than a typical paycheck). I found out they were holding back the checks from clearing through to my account(10 days!) so I no make them call the issuing bank in my presence and clear the whole thing through before I leave. I had to threaten to close my account a couple of times before they would even make the call.
