It won't surprise you to learn that I disagree with Wills use of the language of paradigms here.

Edwards, who does not recognize the name James Q. Wilson, may have missed this paradigm shift.

I'd be very surprised if Edwards is not aware of Wilson's work.

I once had an opportunity to hear Wilson in a very small group, and had the opportunity personally discuss several issues with him. A very enlightening experience.
