Smithee, I've never tasted mutton or goat. I've never tasted rabbit, for that matter, but that's another story, a story for another time. From what you say, I would be inclined to throw in garlic, lots of garlic, and perhaps some onions and celery. I am now reminded in passing of a post made by one of SI's more venerable participants who posted a recipe for the best way to cook a bond merchant or bond trader (I forget which). Itwould probably work well for mastodon. - Holly
