That happens with the interest only homes and new home owners with little equity. Happened back when Carter was president and I was was getting 20% on a 100k CD.

I'm renting here in the Bay Area (Palo Alto) and knew the area from many business trips so was able to find a somewhat affordable place, but wouldn't touch real estate out here with a 10 foot pole. You'd have to be insane.

To be honest, the good weather isn't everything, and I've leave this area and go back to the Boston area if something interesting came up job wise. But my vast preference is to return to France somehow. If I had any idea how things were going to turn out, I'd have never returned to the US. I only did that because the company I was working for on foreign relo was bought out and everyone then got laid off.
