Maybe you should try talking to Afghanis about the Taliban. From what I've heard, they had mixed feelings. They liked the fact that the Taliban tried to put the corrupt warlords out of business, but they thought they went too far in imposing Wahabbi style fundamentalism on the population at large.

I think the young man has a lot to learn and he seems to be interested in learning.

But we could also learn. When a country is completely destroyed by war, the people tend to turn to an iron fist to restore order, and then cannot control that iron fist. We did help destroy their country, or don't you remember that? "Russia's Vietnam"?

Would there be a Taliban if we hadn't used the Afghanis as our proxy against the Soviets?
