Idiot: There was NEVER an "Islamic Golden Age". The cancer of Islam ate away at any wealth and enlightenment that was created BEFORE they infected a society. And the ignorant, inferior Islamics who picked up a tiny bit of those civilizations they destroyed quickly lost it because their "religion" required it.

There has never been ANY justification for the cancer of Islam, except by those of you with and anti-West agenda. And, in that respect, you are old news...

re: "Historians generally put the Golden Age of Islam as 750-1500. Interestingly, their decline was also at the hands of barbarian invaders - for them, the Mongols."

You are correct, but the Eastern Roman Empire, which was Christian, lasted till the 1450's. The Mongols sacked Baghdad and killed the Caliph in 1258.

You are also correct that "religions have been used by evil men for secular purposes in the pursuit of earthly powers and riches", but this is true of anything. Even economics. In the 20th Century, somewhere between 50-100 million people were killed in the pursuit of an economic system (Communism).
