just why do you think I have to defend the people of new orleans?

because "they" lived in that city?

in a city that is vulnerable to natural catastrophe, like many cities in the United States?

because "they" have corrupt politicians, like many cities in the United States?

what did "they" do all those years?

"they" paid local, state and federal taxes

"they" counted on and believed in the army corps of engineers that told them the levees could stand up

"they" formed advisory committees, fought local zoning and flood planning, bought expensive flood insurance, raised their homes, fought fringe developers

to use backwards english in quotes and equate that to the people of new orleans is even beneath you haqihana

to lump everyone together in one category is flat out wrong

to call my father lazy and blame him, to say he got didn't do one damned thing all those years, to say he got what he should have expected enrages me

"they" did not expect to drown

"they" did not expect to die

"they did not expect to lose everything

you owe the majority of the people of new orleans an apology

you owe some of them respect for being survivors
