Well if you look at the 2001-2002 numbers, personal consumption not investment helped the economy. Now I am not against raising income tax rates at times (a little) - just not in a recession. For me, the question is: Has the economy recovered sufficiently enough from the the crash and recession to take a tax increase. My guess is that the answer is: Yes, it probably is - now. And, increasing tax rates at this time should reduce some of the pressure on the FED to increase interest rates.
