We were talking about helping political parties by attending fundraisers, and giving support to people in power by aiding them with your celebrity, or your cause.

If, for example, the Nazis were willing to do super nice things for your charity, if you came to their special dinners, I wouldn't think attending their special dinners was a good thing- although as Dale pointed out, this is a matter of personal perference- I'm not saying you might not accomplish good things dealing with the Nazis. I don't believe the soiling is worth it- other people would believe it is- neither position is, (imo) objectively right or wrong.

You can use the Nazis as a stand in for the dems or the repubs or whatever you like- I'm not using them to demonize any particular side, but they are a handy symbol for a power elite that was particularly repugnant.
