No, I don't think they would do it. Nor would they really try. I personally think the citizenry of this Country would raise up and send a message to the Dems they wouldn't be forgetting for a good long time, if they try it!

I think it's an abomination, and an egregious abuse of the impeachment provisions of the constitution. Any self-respecting politician knows that, and I doubt there is support for the idea at all.

They know that if they do it, the gloves are off and they will be next at the impeachment table.
