My father would not have seen things exactly the way I do since he was much more liberal than I am, and a complete atheist, as opposed to being a mere agnostic (as I am). My father loathed the bombing we did in the Pacific, and had nightmares for the rest of his life about his part in the bombing, and he felt the nuking of Japan was a war crime. My father joined up, and was forever changed by the war- and not in a good way. It turned him in to an alcoholic with PTSD. While he would have fought for freedom, and against the kind of world domination Hitler represented, he was 100% against Korea and Vietnam, and I've no doubt he would have been against Iraq 2. I think he might have supported Iraq 1 as I did, because it involved protecting the sovereignty of another country- but I can't be sure. His horrible experiences in WWII turned him almost totally against war. It's foolish to speculate about a person you have not met, have never posted to, and know almost nothing about. It's even foolish when people speculate about people on SI, since our knowledge of each other is limited, and often based on our own personal misconceptions, but to take it one further and speculate about people mentioned by people on SI takes wild guessing to new epic levels. I'm surprised at your hubris in this matter, and your amazingly inaccurate read. But I'll bear in mind that that's the kind of posting you engage in for my future reference.
