It is the despots that rule the countries. Its the folks who teach the kids. Its the oil monopoly both public and private that have allied themselves with the backward forces. Its also the western consumer with the appetite for oil. If we are going to succeed, it wont only be war that does it. Steve is right--it doesnt appear things will change much. A new regime in iraq perhaps toppled after civil war, followed by three states and perhaps more regional war--turks and kurds would be a disaster for us. Sunniland become PA #2 or Taliban #2.
