Re: "Saddam had nothing to do with Al Qaida. You big fat liar. The link you gave said nothing of the sort, and you openly tried to disinform us on this thread"

The above IS a lie. You falsely charge Lorne, and falsely report on what is in fact contained in the link he provided, as witnessed by the following direct quote which makes mincemeat of the above quoted.

"Although contacts between bin Laden and the Iraqis have been reported in the 9/11 Commission report and elsewhere, (e.g. the 9/11 report states "Bin Ladn himself met with a senior Iraqi intelligence officer in Khartoum in late 1994 or early 1995) this document indicates the contacts were approved personally by Saddam Hussein.

It also indicates the discussions were substantive, in particular that bin Laden was proposing an operational relationship, and that the Iraqis were, at a minimum, interested in exploring a potential relationship and prepared to show good faith by broadcasting the speeches of al Ouda, the radical cleric who was also a bin Laden mentor.

The document does not establish that the two parties did in fact enter into an operational relationship. Given that the document claims bin Laden was proposing to the Iraqis that they conduct "joint operations against foreign forces" in Saudi Arabia, it is interesting to note that eight months after the meeting — on November 13, 1995 — terrorists attacked Saudi National Guard Headquarters in Riyadh, killing 5 U.S. military advisors. The militants later confessed on Saudi TV to having been trained by Osama bin Laden.)"

Wanna know what's more interesting?

This report from 1997 or earlier, having to do with Salmon Pak, the only known training camp with a fuselage on it where we have testimony that Saudi's were training. What was Salmon Pak? This document from '97 described part of it:

"The special operations directorate....in Salmon Pak...is one of the most important and largest in Mukhabarat. This directorate undertakes the most sensitive and secret special operations outside the country. They were responsible for the attempted assassination against President Bush, and the assassination of Talib al Suheil."

Now, perhaps it would be wrong to assume that the testimony given that Saudis trained at Salmon Pak on the fuselage we know was there, is true. We could speculate but shouldn't assume, that said Saudis in fact were among members of the 911 attack team (there is no proof, just highly suggestive information indicating such could well be the case). On the other hand, as the Documents Lorne graciously provided to the thread show, bin Laden wanted to conduct joint operations with Iraq, Saddam approved the meeting with bin Laden where this was expressed and followed up with cooperation, and bin Laden also reportedly cooperated by ceasing support for Anti-Saddam elements in Iraq. But, this is incomplete evidence of a collaboration on 911 between Iraq and Al Qaeda, and conclusions which may be drawn just can't be proven.

I think reasonable minds know that Saddam surely would be proud to have helped Al Qaeda with the 911 plot. Reasonable minds know that the state of the evidence leaves it as a strikingly plausible possibility, if not a liklihood.

Are you hopping mad yet? Naw, no way. Evidence that Saddam approved personally of a meeting with bin Laden, and followed up with cooperation with bin Ladens wishes, doesn't stop you from claiming "Saddam had nothing to do with Al Qaeda. You big fat liar." LOL

Did I say "you are a disgrace?" No, that's what you said to Lorne. Oh well, never mind.
