Another Mexico strike
MEXICO CITY -(Dow Jones)- An estimated 1,000 workers at Grupo Mexico's ( GMEXICO.MX) La Caridad copper mine went on strike Friday over contract negotiations, the National Mining and Metal Workers Union said.

The union said the strike at the mine started at noon local time (2:00 p.m. EST) after the original March 5 deadline for a settlement had been put back several times.

La Caridad, in the northwestern state of Sonora, produces about 150,000 metric tons of copper concentrate a year and 250,000 tons of different refined copper products.

The strike wasn't affecting the smelter and refinery at the mining complex.
