When my ancestors immigrated to what became America, all they had to do was take an oath of loyalty when they landed.

Fear and loathing of immigration is, in my opinion, strongly correlated with globalization of the world's economy.

We don't mind immigrants who look just like us, it's the ones with different colored skin and funny hair styles that trigger anti-immigration sentiment.

In the mid-19th century, "no Irish need apply."

In the late 19th - early 20th century, Catholics and Jews from the Mediterranean and Eastern Europe and Chinese.

Now, Latinos.

I say, let them come. If they want to work, that is. Legalize them.

really like to know about the jobs that "other Americans don't want to do...

Drive by a freeway exit in the San Jose area... u will typically find a non-Latino standing there all day, begging, with a card that says one of the following : "XYZ War Vet - hungry need food", "XYZ vet need help", "Am disabled need help", and many more variations. These guys could if they wanted, just walk the neighborhood, pick up recyclable materials from trash cans, deposit them at the right place, and collect cash.

No - they will stand at the exit all day every day.
